Tennessee Cabin

Feeling a bit nostalgic today, so I was rummaging through some old photos I had of the younger days. I ran across this one, with Allen Preston on the right. He and I use to haul cattle for his dad from all over the place back to their barn in Wren. This cabin was somewhere in middle Tennessee, down in a hollow. This was the second time we had visited the old cabin; this time we took the time to visit with the folks who lived here.  The first time we met the dad, mother and son - that's the son on the left. By the second visit, the dad had passed away. I had my old Minolta XD-11 film camera with me, so I shot several shots while there. The old lady was very cordial and invited us inside. It was very tidy, yet looked as if you had entered a time machine and traveled back to the mid 1800s. She still cooked on a wood-burning stove and had an icebox for keeping food cool.
To the right of this shot, was their well house. It was spring-fed and I took a cool drink from it with the dipper they kept hanging on the side of the well house. Great memories.
