Skies Over The Last Couple Of Months

I'm sorry I've neglected adding to this blog for the last little bit. Life keeps getting in the way.

City Lake Headwaters

10/30/18

I don't really know how colorful autumn will be here; we may just go right into winter. I rode around my usual jaunts today and this is where the water stands at the upper end of the new city lake.

Resting On Joe Wheeler

10/30/18

I haven't shot the moon yet, but intend to soon. I was just sitting out on the crib porch with Pam's Nikon P900 camera and it has 83x (2000mm equivalent)  optical zoom. The little mockingbird was no match for it.

Window Frame

9/3/18

It's Labor Day, so Pam is off work. She's had the old window frame primed and sealed for a while, just waiting on me to put it up. Looks a little more homey, now. Check out the hawk in the middle pic. Still hot and dry.

Morning Glories

9/3/18

Pam planted these out back of the crib this spring.

And Then, Last Night...

8/29/18

Summer lightning is pretty typical for the South, still, this was intense last night.
Pam was giving it the old 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi.....but I never heard the thunder. I HAVE always heard, "when thunder roars, go indoors"; was out there for a while. I didn't take the time to hook up the shutter remote, so I just shot several for 30 seconds each.

Long Train Running

It rolled up on the horizon, then just as suddenly, it moved on.

Testing the old 70-210 lens on some close-ups this morning.

Chicken Hawk

July 31, 2018

I have observed quite a few sights out my upstairs bathroom window. It overlooks a big hollow that is used primarily as a hayfield. Beyond it is the newest city lake. In all, it makes for the perfect wildlife habitat.
It was just a day or so since this field had been mowed, that this hawk made a several-day event of appearing rather close to the house.

The Fourth Day

July 4, 2018
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.   Genesis 1:16-19.
I thought this appropriate, being on the fourth of July, to state God's light show is always better than anything man can produce. All we have to do is look up.

Rising Through The Boughs

7/3/18

It has all the trappings of a good day.

Close Of The Day

7/1/18
...and the beginning of the second half of 2018. Every year passes faster than the previous one.

The Battle

6/10/18

The forces of light and darkness; of good and evil manifest themselves daily in my world.

Cherries Jubilee

5/20/18

Cherries have lasted longer this year than ever before. Mockingbirds, robins & cardinals morph into swarms of locusts by this stage.

Flower Light

5/14/18

Pam received this little LED flower light from a co-worker for her birthday. She wanted to light up her world. Evening time.

Full-Bloom Cherry Tree

5/14/18

I wanted to get a pic of the crib while the cherry tree was ripe and before the cardinals and robins had eaten them all up. Morning time.

2nd Snowfall of 2018

This was the second snowfall of 2018. It occurred on January 16. I think they said it was 1/4". I don't believe it was even that much.
