The Fog Comes On Little Cat Feet

It was super foggy this morning. UPDATE: Two days later, high winds uprooted the old apple tree and it is no more. It was almost dead, anyway, and yielded very little this past summer. It's as if Nature was swiftly merciful in it's demise.

Big trucks go whizzing by, headed to the paper mill. ANOTHER UPDATE: The paper mill is no more, either.

The Sky's On Fire

Yesterday's sunset was even more brilliant than the day before. Captured this skyscape in portrait format.

Moses

Funny how things get started, sometimes. A friend of mine commented on a year-old picture of mine on Facebook, not long ago, about how I looked like Moses. Now, I couldn't begin to imagine how Moses really looked; I don't believe anyone can at this point, but if I reminded my friend of him, that's good enough for me. Later in the week I was experimenting with some DIY gels for my speedlites and this is the result. A little photo manip using some wallpapers and a verse from Scripture, plus my mug...and there you have it.

Early Morning Break-Through

A bit of stormy weather is in the forecast for later today and tonight, but the sun is trying to do it's job, nonetheless.

Photo Graph

This is the simplest, most easy-to-understand graph I've seen to show the relationships of variables that make up the art of photography - ISO, shutter speed and aperture. If you're like me, I can read manuals all day and still be in the dark, but show me the same thing visually, and I get it.

Alabama Sunday

Sunday turned out as nice as the day before, so we were out again, a little closer to home.

Tennessee Saturday

Made a quick loop up through middle Tennessee and back to Alabama, Saturday.

Designing Business Cards

Design work covers every aspect of modern life, and it comes in pretty handy for my two primary business interests - photography and signage. The above are the latest in business cards I designed for each. If you are in need of one, please contact me at either of the emails shown, and you will receive a prompt reply.

Another Tennessee Excursion-Rolling Diary

We made another round-trip through Tennessee over the weekend and saw a lot of sights that used to be commonplace here in North Alabama. Pam took a lot more shots than are shown here, but the unusual thing about it is they were all shot while on the move in the truck! Everyone of them were through the windshield or windows because we only made two rest stops/gas station breaks - and didn't take any pictures, then. All I had to do was take out the occasional window grime/wiper blade.

Nearby Nostalgia

Whenever Pam and I get the chance, we like to load up the gear and head to Tennessee or even Mississippi to try and get some records of times gone by through landscapes and architecture of an earlier era. The way things looked when we were children. Those places are quickly vanishing around my neck-of-the-woods because "progress" and/or "commercialization" has taken precedence, here - or so I thought.
Although we have been aware of the humble, former dwelling place pictured here for some time, only recently has it been cleared partially to be able to get a glimpse of something that was once commonplace around here. And it's only a mile or two from home! (It's between Langtown and Moulton). It sits very close to the busy highway we live on, but for years with all the overgrowth, most people whizzed by, barely aware of it's existence. We were Jeepin' yesterday, and had my camera, so we decided to stop and take some shots of it. Good thing, too, because the sign is advertising that it would be moved. The log cabins were long ago covered over by board and batten siding, so one would hardly see that there were logs underneath, at all. The area code on the sign indicates a Lansing, Michigan number. If anyone knows more about this old place, feel free to pass along the info.
