The Last Borden Trip
Lately, the camera has taken a backseat to the increased activity of revamping the shop. Also, the oppressive heat wave we've had the last several days has curtailed any outside activity to a bare minimum. Today, this cool snap and light rain gave us the incentive to venture out to the wilds of Bankhead. It seems to always be a little cooler in the mountains than here, so we found ourselves headed to Borden Creek. Maybe the water would be running? It's been a while since we've been there, but little did we know things had changed. Right before the last long descent to the creek, they had created a small parking and turn-around area. The road itself was blockaded with a metal post to prevent access to motor vehicles. They had erected a little covered information station on the right-hand side. We parked and decided to walk down...bad idea. We made it down and I took these few photos, but had to stop for rest two or three times before dragging myself the last steps to the truck. Luckily, we had brought some gatorade and energy bars along.
We both concluded this would be the last excursion to Borden.
