Christmas Morning, 2017

12/25/17

We had a good time yesterday, first over at Pam's sister's house for lunch, then back over at Mom's for snacks and treats and handing out gifts. Woke up late this morning and shot this out the front window, 'cause it's too dang cold to venture outside.

Moonset

12/03/17

Probably half the stuff I post on here wouldn't be if it weren't for my wife, Pam. Whether it be her calling me when she's coming home from work to tell me to look at the sky, or, in this case, letting the kitty out for the morning, I'm in the dark, sometimes. Yep, she's a good one.

Day's End

11/21/17

Pam, on her way home from work, called and said look at the sky. I grabbed the camera and composed this.

November Ablaze

11/20/17

Pam called as she was coming home from work, and said "You need to check out the sky". The whole southwest was burning up. Not much editing on this one.

You've Crossed Over The Line

11/06/17

Since the weather was so nice yesterday, we decided to take a quick road trip to Tennessee.
These are some of the sights we encountered in and around Lawrenceburg and Pulaski.

Cattail Pond

10/27/17

This is close to home and as I was driving by, I felt how very peaceful. After pulling off to the side of the road, I was making some adjustments to my camera, I could hear a faint whipping sound. This was the third shot I made and it includes the helicopter. I believe it was the slowest, loudest one I've ever heard.

Reversal

10/22/17

It seems complacency had set in with the sunsets, so I decided to shake myself of that trend when I observed this sunrise.

After all the hoopla over Monday's eclipse, just gimme back my sunsets.

Where Is Scarlet, And Is She Still Hungry?

Yesterday's sunset brought this question to mind.

Yesterday's News

7/15/17

After the blustering of wind and the threat of rain, all we were left with was a fireworks display. This was one out of eleven that I shot yesterday, and it was hard to pick just one. It was that brilliant.

Signs And Wonders

7/13/17

Last evening had a strange glow to it. It seemed the sun was rising instead of setting. I took the camera and went outside, but the sunset was clear. However, as I turned around, this was to the ESE of us.

A Procession Of Beasts

7/05/17

We all see different things in the clouds. Kind of like a Rorschach test for the common man.

Pond Spring - Joe Wheeler Home

03/25/17

West view of Pond Spring, Gen. Joe Wheeler's home in Wheeler, Alabama. They were having a plant sale today, on the front porch.

Rear view, looking from south-east.

Spring House

Pond Spring, the home of Gen. Joe Wheeler, in Wheeler, Alabama, had a plant sale yesterday. Pam and I went down there and I snapped a few shots of the grounds. A lot of you probably don't know, but my dad was born only a mile or two from this spot and grew up in Wheeler. He was the last of eight (nine if you count their cousin, ONeal Davis, who was raised with them).
As kids, we were in Wheeler nearly every weekend, and I would stay a week at a time during the summers. It was not uncommon that we rambled all over the "grove". Miss Annie had arbors every where and flowers planted throughout the place.
It was a bit disappointing to see what has happened to the garden, to the left of the main house. I remember it looking like a maze with the boxwoods and right in the middle was a sundial. Where did the sundial go? Also, the log barn or shed you see above has been transplanted there. I do remember there being a library building to the northwest of the house, but I never got a chance to go in it.

The Last One

11/23/16

I believe this is the last skyscape I shot in 2016; at least on the Canon 7D.
