We made another round-trip through Tennessee over the weekend and saw a lot of sights that used to be commonplace here in North Alabama. Pam took a lot more shots than are shown here, but the unusual thing about it is they were all shot while on the move in the truck! Everyone of them were through the windshield or windows because we only made two rest stops/gas station breaks - and didn't take any pictures, then. All I had to do was take out the occasional window grime/wiper blade.

Whenever Pam and I get the chance, we like to load up the gear and head to Tennessee or even Mississippi to try and get some records of times gone by through landscapes and architecture of an earlier era. The way things looked when we were children. Those places are quickly vanishing around my neck-of-the-woods because "progress" and/or "commercialization" has taken precedence, here - or so I thought.

Although we have been aware of the humble, former dwelling place pictured here for some time, only recently has it been cleared partially to be able to get a glimpse of something that was once commonplace around here. And it's only a mile or two from home! (It's between Langtown and Moulton). It sits very close to the busy highway we live on, but for years with all the overgrowth, most people whizzed by, barely aware of it's existence. We were Jeepin' yesterday, and had my camera, so we decided to stop and take some shots of it. Good thing, too, because the sign is advertising that it would be moved. The log cabins were long ago covered over by board and batten siding, so one would hardly see that there were logs underneath, at all. The area code on the sign indicates a Lansing, Michigan number. If anyone knows more about this old place, feel free to pass along the info.
