One Year Ago Today

I shot this on the one-year anniversary of the super outbreak of tornadoes of April 27, 2011. I was in the basement when the trees that had formerly blocked this view came crashing down around our home. They came down as a combined result of the ground being over-saturated and meso-cyclonic winds associated with the huge tornado just 1/4 mile away. I have read NOAA's data that rated it as a high-end EF 4 when it came through here.

Ides of April

RECYCLED POTS. One of Pam's strawberry pots broke and she started to throw it away, then she decided to use it with another cracked pot to create this. That is impatiens in the bottom with a "helicopter" plant in the one inserted in the top. If anyone knows the proper name of the "helicopter" one, I'd like to know. UPDATE: I've been told that this is a spider plant - Chlorophytum cosmosum.

DeSoto Falls Crossvine

We did an on-location maternity shoot for my stepdaughter and her husband at DeSoto Falls, near Mentone, Alabama this past Sunday. These crossvines were all along the path leading around the rim of the falls.

Maternity Photoshoot

We traveled to DeSoto Falls yesterday for Emily and Ryan's maternity shots. This is the site of their first date last year. It is a beautiful place and Emily was glowing; she's due any day, now. We must re-visit sometime soon as I didn't take any shots of the actual falls!
